Course Description
Whether you
are an experienced inspector who has done thousands of
inspections or you are a new inspector just getting started
in the home inspection business, you will write better
inspection reports and get more business after you complete
this course.
This is a hybrid Classroom and Self-study
course, approved for TWELVE CEU's for InterNACHI, CMI and NAANAI. You are
required to read the book "How to Write a Better Home Inspection Report" and
attend the four-hour classroom session to earn your CEU's. Your eight
independent study hours will include writing two mock (or real) inspection
reports that you must bring to class with you.
There is a $79 fee to enroll in this
course for credit.

This course goes where no other home inspection courses go.
You will start with a review of Electrical fundamentals.
From there you will learn the How's and Why's
of Electrical system design as you also learn proper way to
inspect an electrical system. This is not a
Code class. Once you understand why and how electrical
systems are designed and built, it makes understanding what
to look for and understanding electrical codes much easier.
Even if you are an experienced home inspector, you may be
walking right past some of the most serious electrical
problems. You will be a better inspector
after you take this class!

Electrical course EL39420
Some of you have not had a chance to participate yet in any
of the live sessions for Electrical course EL39420. We
will be doing another live session soon. Watch your e-mail
and the blog for announcements.
Many of you have been asking when we will be doing live
sessions for the next electrical course in the series. You
need to enroll in the course first. It only cost $36 and
you can participate in as many live sessions as you want for
an entire year. If you purchased a BestInspectors.Net
course that includes all continuing education for a full
year, you do not need to pay the $36 but you do need to
register. As soon as we have enough people for a class, we
will schedule a live online session. Classroom Courses
Home Inspection
We are doing five-hour classes Tuesday evenings at our Ann
Arbor training facility. Eight core
modules are required for certification for anyone seeking
certification. Upon the completion of the eight core
courses, you will take a proctored exam. The courses are
each independent of one another so you can enter the program
at any time. You can take the courses in any order. You
are only required to take eight courses if you are seeking
certification with a proctored exam. You can also take only
one course if you want.
The courses are also approved for five hours of continuing
education for CMI, CRI (InterNACHI), and CFI and CFA (North
American Institute of Appraisers and Inspectors for those
who are already certified.
Courses taken at other participating schools in the core
subjects can be applied toward your certification
requirements. Participating schools are Merrell
Institute in Bohemia (Long Island) New York, Skills Training
Center in Toledo, and Real Estate Training Academy Ann
Arbor. New YorkInspectors
seeking a New York home inspector’s license can obtain the
required education at Merrell Institute in Bohemia (Long
Island). Merrell Institute has a 140-hour course starting

We have a complete series of courses to prepare you
for the CMI. Call or write for details on the CMI approved
courses.
Contractor/ Master Required Continuing Education
We will be starting a series of courses in the Toledo and
Burton locations later this month for licensed contractors
and licensed Master Tradesmen in Electrical (OH & MI),
Plumbing (OH), HVAC (OH), Refrigeration (OH), Hydronics
(OH), Fire Alarm (MI), and Sign Specialists (MI). All Ohio
trades are now back on a one year cycle. Michigan trades
are on a three year cycle.
These courses are approved by the Ohio Construction Industry
Licensing Board (OCILB) and the Michigan Bureau of
Construction Codes. They are also approved for Certified
Commercial Building Inspector (CBBI) and Certified Master
Inspector (CMI) continuing education. ICC Exam
Preparation
Residential construction
24 hour International Code Council residential construction
exam preparation classes will begin in late April or early
May. Dates and times have not yet been announced. We
guarantee that you will pass the exam. Watch your e-mail

Building Maintenance Code
The recently passed law requiring home inspections on
certain homes in Toledo mandates that inspectors will be
required to inspect for ICC Building Maintenance Code
compliance. The law went into effect in May 2008. Dates
and times to be announced.
